The Internet Of Things(IoT) Is Changing Much About The World We Live In. Whether We Are Improving The Production Of A Factory Or Giving Residents A Real-time update on where to park or monitor personal health, it is the Internet of things that brings us varied information together and provides a common language to the devices to communicate and share information with each other. It integrates data from many devices and applies analytics to share the most relevant data.
IoT is becoming a part of our lives in ways we probably don’t know. It is an emerging technology where machines are embedded with sensors that allows them to relay data with little or no human involvement. Basically, all sorts of everyday items can be connected to IoT which could transform the way we live.
One of the earliest examples of this goes to the early 1970s when the first ATMs were online. Some items you may own which incorporate the internet of things are Apple watch, Fitbit and smart home appliances like refrigerators, etc. Many other items are in the middle of getting connect with IoT like streets which could facilitate the flow of rush hour traffic.
IoT in Daily Lives
IoT is not only limit to appliances. Big businesses are also investing billions into this concept. In 2008, there are more devices connect to IoT than human beings and this number is expect to grow up in future. Tech companies see a promising future in IoT claiming that it will make businesses more efficient. In a report, General Electric(GE) predicted that IoT will add as much as 15 trillion dollars to the global GDB in the next 15 years.
The IoT could also save lives. It could completely change the patient’s care as well as improve the communication between doctors. For example, researchers at the University of Tokyo have create an electricity conducting ink that can be print upon the clothing. It can be use to measure heartbeat and contractions so that people can monitor their own vital signs.
The Internet of things technology can also help in emergency situations. For instance, if someone has a heart attack, relevant data from the patient’s medical history can be hand over to the doctors. before the ambulance takes the patient to the hospital giving doctors a few more crucial minutes to figure out the best treatment possible.
Also, WiFi will make IoT work better. Researchers at the University of Washington, have invented a new WiFi system.
that transmits WiFi using 10,000 times less power than current-generation routers. This could allow for very low powered sensors to be placed easily.
Internet of Things Applications:-
Another emerging technology in this field could be Power over Wi-Fi or PoWiFi which could allow enabled devices to convert WiFi signals to DC current. So soon new devices could be enabled with PoWiFi and continue to run on an energy loop powered. This will make IoT more efficient, accessible, convenient for us.
Though IoT looks like it offers countless benefits, it could also come up with security issues. It offers companies more chances to invade our privacy. For example, there is an Indian firm silver push which has technology that can track you across multiple platforms and devices by embedding tiny sounds into websites or televisions or any other device programs which are inaudible to us.
It can only be detected by our devices and that data can be fed back to the Silver push. According to a study by Hewlett Packard, 70% of the IoT enabled devices can be hacked. It may seem to some that we inadvertently end up in a surveillance state.
Conclusion
Despite the security issues, Organizations see tremendous benefits of having connected devices. in the coming years, this will only grow. The Internet Of Things will change how we work and live. For many, it will make life a lot easier.
